Asks CBS Rep if blood platelets (spelling? Sorry) quality and quantity will be the same as the rest of Canada? CBS Rep states that platelet service will continue as it does today because of changes CBS has made to its consolidation plan. Says Saint John will recieved an enhanced service after the consolidation. Also corrects Mayor Court stating that there are more than 2 provinces exporting...

Wonder if they will let the final speakers speak? Have to wait in see. Past president of Saint John Medical Society still speaking. Wants CBS’ guarentee that New Brunswickers will have the exact same quality of blood as the rest of Canada. Gets response from CBS Representitive that the NB Medical Society will be working with CBS to ensure product quality.

Compares CBS to “a bully.” Asks the crowd if anyone is on CBS’s side. Gets a loud NO from the crowd. Says he has a “distrust” of CBS and that they have a deaf ear to various medical societies’ concerns

Number of Commentors From the Floor Still...
And its getting heated! Lots of yelling and some applause. One speaker just stormed out and Minister Dube’s response that it was CBS’s decision and not the NB Governments. That was met with some booing from the crowd. Mayor Court appeals to the crowd for respect after the last commentor from the floor strorms out yelling… and continues to yell from the hallway. He seemed...

With emotion in his voice Mayor Court is speaking about his son Chris who died at age 18. Says cutbacks to healthcare are the reason he is here tonight. Mike Davidson from CUPE is on Stage Now
Says this is not a Saint John issue but a provincial issue and says that this government needs to be held accountable for throwing in the white flag. Big applause after those comments. Now he is talking about people he has spoken to and their concerns about CBS leaving. Very passionate remarks. More applause. Echoing statements from the video he is referencing Premier Alwards broken...

Liberal Opposition - MLA Victor Boubreau
Speaking now he states that he is disapointed with the NB Alward Government and their handling of the CBS issue. He is making strong statements about Tory MLAs going silent on this issue and the absence of Premier Alward from tonights symposium. Calls the symposium “a funeral” because the Alward Government did not wait to announce their plan until after tonights event.

Next Up - Representitive from CBS
I appoligze but I missed the speaker’s name. She has stated that she believes that the NB Governmrnt has made the right decision and notes that blood donations have increased in NB year over year. Quick speach. All finished.

NB Minister of Health Speaking Now
Minister Dube stating that she is happy to be here tonight and thanks residents for providing options for thier decision to stay with CBS. However she states that the province was unable to change CBS’s mind after lobbying hard for them to do so. Referencing this time of fiscal responsibility it was unfeasable for NB to start its own collection agency as there would be no place to sell our...

Video Critical of Alward Government and CBS
12 minute video very critical of high salaries at CBS as well as NB Government for broken election promises and for not paying attention to various reports stating that NB could go it alone without CBS.
